Brown Black Transferware Plates

Do you keep a list (or mental list) of items to search for at thrift stores and yard sales?

My collections list is fairly long but keeping a list helps me remember and narrow in on my favourite collectibles. Transferware is on my list and today I found some brown / black Myott English Ironstone in the Royal Mail pattern. The dinner plates were $4 each and I picked up four. I have a few blue and white pieces and I'm happy to add these lovely plates to my collection.

Now to decide whether to place them in a cabinet or hang them on the dining room wall.

I am sharing at the following parties. Be sure to stop by for lots of great ideas and beautiful projects.

I too collect iron stone dishes, truthfully, I collect dishes of all kinds, bowls are one of my faves, and any colour English Ironstone as well. I came into a pretty sweet deal at a yard sale a few years ago with 6 of the brown/black dinner plates and 6 matching small side plates, rather a steal of a deal. ($8 for the lot) I hung them on my wall for a few months, then decided to use them with my every day dishes. I have many dishes, and love them, so figured I should just use them. I also have a few green small side dishes, and a pink Iron Stone oval kind of shaped one that I display on a plate stand. Thanks for sharing, I love your pattern.

Such pretty plates.

I don't keep a list on paper but do have a few things in my mind that I am always on the lookout for. One is a great old pie safe (or warmer)

I have a few brown transferware pieces as well and I love the look of them in the fall with all the oranges and greens and golds.

Love, love love brown/black transferware. I just found this entire set at a yard sale and remembered seeing it here. It is in perfect condition, not a chip anywhere. I picked it up for $20! I'll be doing a post on it soon!
