We often pack a lunch, or stop for takeout, on day trips or trips to the beach. Having a picnic quilt really comes in handy.
I made this simple picnic quilt using red and blue twill, denim scraps and black cotton broadcloth. The coloured squares repeat in rows diagonally and it is bordered first in denim and then in black cotton. The backing is a blue bed sheet. It is very sturdy and easy to wash, perfect after a day of fun and sun. Do you have a favourite picnic quilt or blanket?

I"m enjoying the parade of quilts you are giving us. I like each one more than the last (or is that just that i have a short attention span and forget what the last one was like). This one looks like it might be doable for me to make one like it someday. I love its simplicity.

I'm loving getting to oggle all your beautiful quilts. My favorite beach/picnic blanket is a red plaid wool blanket, but I'd take a nice picnic quilt like this any day!
Denim is perfect for a picnic quilt. Love the blue and red fabrics ... they look like bandanas!
